Family of six smiling outdoors in a backyard with a wooden fence and trees in the background.

hi! we’re the greenes,

husband and wife, Aaron and Taylor, and children Aya, Asé, and Ali. We started our suburban homestead 5 years ago with a clear vision to embark on the journey towards a holistic, self sufficient lifestyle. On our journey of learning we noticed the lack of representation of urban/suburban homesteading, with more focus being on large homesteads that had lots of land. While we do desire to have acres of our own one day, we saw the great potential of the space that we had and decided to get started and work with what we got!

At The Greene Hause, we explore the entire home economy, specifically from a mother’s perspective…as the mother is the heart of the home and the home is the heart of the family. We explore topics from gardening, keeping chickens, cooking, DIY home projects, homeschooling, marriage, entrepreneurship, and more. We seek to transform the idea of the home being a place of consumption to actually being producers of our own needs, with the power of The Most High.

A man smiling and standing next to a leafy plant in a garden, near a white house with siding, a wooden raised bed, and a black hook rack on the wall.
A smiling young girl holding a large bunch of carrots in a backyard garden on a sunny day. She is wearing a green sleeveless shirt with the word 'Smile' on it and pink pants. The background shows garden beds, a wooden fence, and a brick house.
A young boy with curly hair smiling while sitting on a weathered black wooden bench outdoors. He is wearing a blue t-shirt, yellow shorts, and black rain boots. There is a wooden fence and a potted plant behind him, and a stone pathway with white rocks in front.
A woman with dreadlocks and hoop earrings smiling while holding fresh leafy green vegetables in a garden with trees, a wooden fence, and a house with a deck in the background.
A young boy standing in a garden holding a black chicken, wearing yellow shorts, a white t-shirt with dirt stains, and green rain boots. The garden has wooden planters, flowers, and a wire fence with a backyard and wooden fence in the background.

We have learned many lessons along the way and seek to give that knowledge back to the community so that others may feel empowered to start their own journeys.

Suburban homesteading is a truly fulfilling lifestyle that has the potential to change the trajectory of humanity as a whole. With the ability to have a functioning home economy right where we are, we have the power to one day transform our societies back to a natural way of life that so many of us crave and that which was intended for us.

All Praises! Yah Bless! One Love! 🙏🏾 🌱
