Building a Campfire!
This is a PRETEND campfire building activity to teach your little one about building an outdoor fire. Knowing how to create fires is an essential survival skill that could be used in an emergency situation or for a fun event such as camping. Obviously, the purpose here is not to actually have them build a real fire, but more so to teach them the basic concepts so that they can build on this knowledge when they get older to execute the real thing.
The materials you will need:
sticks/small tree limbs
leaves, rocks, dirt, etc
The objectives are:
to learn what situations call for building an outdoor fire. Think of extreme weather, need for light or warmth, cooking, etc
to learn what elements are needed to start and also maintain the fire
to discuss outdoor fire safety
