Running a Store!

This is an interactive activity that teaches the fundamentals of how to run a store. Its simple, effective, and suitable for all ages! The idea is that your little one will be running their own store, whatever type of store they like and have an interest in.

The objectives are:

• Come up with a name of their store

• Identify what product the store specializes in

• How they will produce or source the product

• Calculate fair pricing for the store and customers

• Perform good customer service practices

The materials needed are dependent on what product the store will be selling. You can really go all out with this activity by finding accurate materials such as a toy cash register, make a store sign, use toy money, etc. OR you can also use your imagination!

In our lesson, Aya opened a computer store, “Aya’s Computer Shop.” She used paper, folded it in half, and drew the computer features on the paper. Wallah! A computer. And since we were outside, we also used leaves as pretend money. Check out this quick video below of what we did:
