Melt In Your Mouth Sandwich Bread

This sandwich bread is soft and sweet and is a yummy elevation to your sandwiches, french toast, and more.

PREP TIME: about 20 minutes

RISE TIME: about 1 hour 30 minutes

COOK TIME: about 25 minutes

TOTAL TIME: about 2 hours and 30 minutes

INGREDIENTS

2 cups warm water

2 TBSP pure cane sugar

1 and ½ TBSP active yeast

1 and ½ TSP salt

¼ cup melted butter

¾ cup honey

5 cups unbleached all purpose flour`

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a large bowl, whisk the 2 TBSP of sugar in warm water until it dissolves. Make sure the water is not hot, as it will kill the yeast. Whisk in the yeast. Allow to proof until mixture resembles a creamy foam, about 5 minutes.

  2. Add in honey, salt, and butter. Begin to mix. Add the flour one cup at a time, mixing in between cups.

  3. On a floured surface, knead dough for 7 minutes. Adding more flour as needed. Place in a clean, well oiled bowl and cover with a kitchen towel. Allow to rise in a warm area until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.

  4. Punch dough down. Knead for 1 minute and divide dough in half. Shape into loaves and place into two greased loaf pans. Allow to rise for 30 minutes or until dough has risen 1 inch above pans.

  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Brush with butter and let cool completely, about 1-2 hours. Slice and enjoy.
